Sandra Bullock is one the most well-respected actresses in Hollywood. She makes great movies, she’s down to earth, she wants to keep her kids out of the spotlight to respect their privacy, and she didn’t let a cheating ex-husband keep her down.
But ignoring her Hollywood achievements, Sandra Bullock still earns the title of “America’s Sweetheart” because of all the incredible charity work she’s been quietly doing for the past 16 years.
At the height of her Miss Congeniality fame, Bullock donated $1 million to the red cross after the September 11th attacks in New York.
One year after the tsunami in Indonesia, Hurricane Katrina hit Louisiana. 1,833 people lost their lives, and Bullock donated another $1 million to the Red Cross.
In 2010, an earthquake hit Haiti. Bullock donated $1 million to Doctors Without Borders
Now with a 1-year-old son at home, and one year after her extremely public divorce from Jesse James, Bullock donated another $1 million to the Red Cross to help with earthquake and tsunami relief in Japan.
“I’m just grateful I can do it,” Bullock said in a statement. “We have to take care of one another.”
And it’s not just money Bullock donates either.
